Our project was to plan, film and edit our own crime drama. Me,
Gaia and Lucy all worked in a team to produce our minute long crime drama. We
first planned it out what kind of crime conventions we should have in our
drama. Then we built up a storyboard and then a script. After we made a
timetable to shoot our filming. We stuck by our schedule however we didn’t
follow our storyboard through. As we couldn’t get to Linford Bottom we
substituted it for a chase scene in a school. It turned out really well. If I
were to make a storyboard again (in our next project), I would follow through
it because next time I know exactly what I’m doing. I would also add more
dialogue to make it more dramatic as my whole trailer is just music. We also
took some scenes out due to not enough cast or thinking it’s not relevant. I
think we were very professional. We didn’t waste our time, we discussed how
many shots or the camera angle we should use. It met the target audience we
hoped for, being teenagers. It had amazing music and lots of action to grab the
audiences eye. Mostly all the groups said there wasn't any dialogue or that they couldn't hear any. Mostly all of them said we had interesting music also.
If I did the project again, I would definitely have more mise-en-scene for our crime drama. I would also like to take more time in making a schedule and script which in turn, would have made my project a lot easier to follow as we were all over the place at some stages in the project.
We used "Premier Pro by Adobe" to edit our crime drama trailer. On this program, you can add clips that you've recorded, add music, add filters and tonnes of other stuff.
"File", which is located in the top left hand corner is used for locating media to put into the program so you can edit. It also has a "capture" button which lets you record off your webcam there and then (or a camera).
"Edit" has uses like "undo", "redo", "cut", "copy" etc.
"Clip" is one of the most important aspects in this program. It enables you to slow down or speed up (Speed/Duration) your selected file. Also has "video options" and "audio options".
"Title" is for putting text into your project. It really helped when making the credits and making our crime drama's name appear.
One strength was that we got all of our filming done quickly so we could edit on photoshop as soon as possible. Another strength was that as a group, we worked really well and all did our own part to help with the filming, props and acting. I really enjoyed working with both Gaia and Lucy because they are responsible, intelligent people. The whole project was really good but some weaknesses included: we didn't stick to the storyboard which in turn, made all of our trailers unique and different which isn't a bad thing but it would have been more professional if we did stick to our planned storyboard. Another weakness is that we were all very busy and finding a suitable time for all of us to film (outside school) was hard; this is why we filmed in school when we were all in the same lessons.
